Preveli Fountain In Crete, Greece

Preveli Fountain in Crete, Greece

The fountain in the monastery on Preveli is one of the few parts of the building which was not destroyed during wars. The old fountain with the inscription 1701 is still used as water source. The monastery contains numerous religious relics and icons, and its buildings, heavily restored, are open to the public. During the II world war the Allied soldiers received shelter and assistance from the monastery of Preveli.
