Astronaut sculpture on cathedral

The small sculpture of a man dressed up in what appears to be a modern day astronaut spacewalk suit decorates one of the side entrances of the 15th century Salamanca cathedral. Moreover the clergy strongly affirms that the statue itself is an original from that period.
