Steps with no stairs leading to warden s office

This staircase with no stairs leads up to the Warden's Office in the abandoned prison facility in New Jersey. Essex County Prison was built in 1837, and abandoned in 1970 when the new prison was built. In 1991 some scenes from MalcomX were shot here, and a fire further destroyed the facility in 2001.
