F. W. Atkinson, 1918

F. W. Atkinson was a resident of the Country Club District of Upper Arlington in 1918. He and King Thompson approached the architectural firm of Miller and Reeves regarding the construction of a Garden Community on a parcel of land bounded by Tremont Road, Guilford Road, Fairfax and Waltham Roads. The plan was to create a thoroughfare to the Country Club District sites and an attractive group of related houses and gardens. This Community Idea was in vogue in England and the United States at the time and was in accord with the development of Upper Arlington as an ideal, planned, and restricted community.
