Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan (Thai: à¸§à¸±à¸”à¸ªà¸£à¸°à¹€à¸à¸¨à¸£à¸²à¸Šà¸§à¸£à¸¡à¸«à¸²à¸§à¸´à¸«à¸²à¸£, usually short Wat Saket) is a Buddhist temple (Wat) in Pom Prap Sattru Phai district, Bangkok, Thailand. The temple dates back to Ayutthaya era, when it was called Wat Sakae. King Rama I renovated the temple and renamed it to Wat Saket. Elephant Images

This is a small sized group of monuments consisting of a Ceylonese style with 24 elephant images decoration its base. Columns of the Wihan (hall) are made of sandstone which are different from the laterite columns in other temples. A stone inscription found in this area refers to Wat Chetuphon and Wat Takuan.

Old temple

This photo of the architecture is called Wihan in Thai which is usually a large hall building in temple to keep Buddha statues and used for monk's praying ceremony in the daily basis. It is taken at an old temple names Wat lok molee in Chiangmai Thailand.

Wat Lok Moli is notable for its massive chedi, which was built in 1527-8 by King Chettharat. A viharn stands in front of the chedi. Although not particularly old, the viharn is tastefully designed.
