Pitts Model 12.

The Pitts Model 12 is the best biplane ever designed by the master himself, Curtis Pitts. The Pitts Model 12 was designed specifically around the Russian Vedeneyev M-14P/PF 360-400 HP radial engine. Jim Kimball Enterprises, Inc. owns the rights to the Pitts Model 12 and offers plans for sale as well as kit parts and components for builders of the Pitts Model 12.

Today, the Waikiki Beach Boys perpetuate Dukeâ€™s legacy by teaching visitors how to surf and canoe and the Duke Kahanamoku Statue has become an iconic symbol of Waikiki. The Curtiss P-40 was a formidable fighter and ground attack aircraft in the right hands. Employed in theatres from China to New Guinea to the Aleutians to North Africa, P-40 variants had many names including the Tomahawk, Kittyhawk and Warhawk. The Kittyh After the war it was flown to the Rukuhia storage facility along with more than 100 other Kittyhawks, to be scrapped (out of the more than 300 Kittyhawks operated by the RNZAF). It was rescued in 1959 by a group of schoolboys led by Charles Darby, who scraped together 25 pounds to buy it. NZ 3009 was chosen partly because it was nearest to the gate!.
