Neuschwanstein Castle, built by King Ludwig of Bavaria in the 1880s, as seen from Hohenschwangau Palace (Schloss Hohenschwangau).Hohenschwangau is the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria and was built by his father, King Maximilian II of Bavaria. It is located in the German village of Hohenschwangau near the town of Fuessen in southwestern Bavaria, Germany, close to the border with Austria. Built on the ruins of an old castle the palace was constructed between 1833 and 1855.
