This is a near thread species. Morimus funereus is a species of beetle in family Cerambycidae. It occurs in Central and South-eastern Europe. Characteristic of old lower montane oak and beech forests. Larvae develop under the bark of a range of broad-leaved trees, later feeding in the heartwood, where they pupate. Development takes at least two years. Adults can be seen in June and July on the foodplant and wood piles. This is a front view picuture.
