Rocky Mountain National Park is located in the north-central region of the U.S. state of Colorado. The residence of the Ben Sells Thompson family, completed in 1916, was located at 1919 Cambridge Boulevard. The property was later owned by Laura Thompson, Ralph Johansmann, Robert Atwell, and Claire Hamilton. Ben Sells Thompson, one of the founders of Upper Arlington, was born in Georgetown, Ohio in 1879. As a young man, he moved to Mansfield and worked in the hardware business. Later he attended the engineering college at The Ohio State University. In 1907, Ben joined his brother, King Thompson, in the real estate business. In 1913, Ben Thompson and his brother, King, purchased 840 acres of land from James Terrell Miller to develop an "ideal residential community for Columbus." The land appealed to the Thompsons as a residential site because of its location on high ground, its proximity to both downtown Columbus and The Ohio State University campus, and its position upwind from larger cities. The beautiful land that was once a "well-managed, immaculately kept, working farm" was subdivided into 2500 lots. In 1914 the King Thompson Company was formed to sell this new community to the public. In August of 1914, laborers and teams of horses were hired by the Thompson brothers to construct the first street, named Roxbury Road, leading into this pristine new subdivision.

In 1917, the Upper Arlington Company was established, with King Thompson as president and Ben Thompson as vice president, to manage the streets, sewers, and water lines. Ben Thompson also served as president of the Northwest Boulevard Company, which deeded the land that was eventually used to construct Northwest Boulevard. This road, known by many Upper Arlington residents as a crucial step in the development of the village, provided a convenient route from Upper Arlington directly to downtown Columbus. On March 20, 1918 the village of Upper Arlington, with two hundred residents, was incorporated. Before the establishment of a police force, Ben Thompson was elected to the "high office of Marshal of Upper Arlington" for which he took no salary. Ben and King Thompson were very active in the life of their new community, entertaining residents, sponsoring athletic competitions, and organizing holiday activities for the families. Ben Thompson was a member of the first Village Commission, an appointed member of the Upper Arlington Park Board, and served as treasurer of the Men's Brotherhood, predecessor of the Upper Arlington Civic Association. Ben Thompson later accepted a secretarial position with the Y.M.C.A., and was stationed overseas in that capacity. Ben Thompson was married to the former Catherine Pinney, of Flint, Ohio. Mrs. Thompson served as chairwoman of the Upper Arlington Red Cross Unit, established in 1917, which met weekly to socialize, as well as to sew towels, hospital clothes, and bandages in their contribution to the war effort. In addition to his work in real estate, Ben Thompson was an outdoorsman who enjoyed baseball, hunting and fishing. Ben once gave a "short and very interesting account of his northern hunting trip and the methods and difficulties encountered in bagging a grizzly bear."

Much of Port Chalmers is located on a small hilly peninsula, at the northern end of which is a large reclaimed area which is now the site of Dunedin's container port. Close to the southeastern shore of this peninsula are a pair of islands, which lie across the harbour between Port Chalmers and the Otago Peninsula. The Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall

The modern central court is dominated by the curious Chakri Maha Prasat hall. The hall was built by King Rama V and completed in 1882. Its unusual design is due to some controversy during its construction. The original architect was a Briton working in Singapore named John Clunich. Rama V wanted an entirely western look to his new home, but others in the court argued that the king's residence and throne hall should reflect Siamese motifs. Thus the domed roof was replaced by a Thai styled roof. It should be no surprise that the Thai nickname for the building is the 'westerner with a Thai hat'. The Chakri Maha Prasat is located on what used to be the elephant coral, and was later the house of King Rama V's mother in which the future king was born. The base of the building houses the royal guards and a collection of ancient weapons is displayed in the arcades along the building's front. This display is open to the public on weekdays only. On Saturday and Sunday, you can see some of the displays but the exhibit inside is closed. VIP Visitors enter the building by the grand staircases which flank the central hall and lead up to a large porch. Above the wrought iron and frosted glass doors is the emblem of the Chakri dynasty, a three-bladed sword (ri) with the handle passing through the center hole of a discuss (chak) with a sharpened edge. Ben Thompson later accepted a secretarial position with the Y.M.C.A., and was stationed overseas in that capacity.

Ben Thompson was married to the former Catherine Pinney, of Flint, Ohio, and the couple resided at 1919 Cambridge Boulevard. Mrs. Thompson served as chairwoman of the Upper Arlington Red Cross Unit, established in 1917, which met weekly to socialize, as well as to sew towels, hospital clothes, and bandages in their contribution to the war effort. In addition to his work in real estate, Ben Thompson was an outdoorsman who enjoyed baseball, hunting and fishing. Ben once gave a "short and very interesting account of his northern hunting trip and the methods and difficulties encountered in bagging a grizzly bear."

Frankton is located on the edge of a larger area referred to as the Frankton Flats, which is the area of land approximately bounded by Lake Wakatipu, the Kawarau and Shotover Rivers, and State Highway 6 to towards Cromwell. The Frankton Flats is located in the Wakatipu Basin and enjoys longer sunshine hours, particularly in winter, than the majority of land in central Queenstown, which is predominantly south facing. It features majestic mountain views, a variety of wildlife, varied climates and environmentsâ€”from wooded forests to mountain tundraâ€”and easy access to back-country trails and campsites. The park is located northwest of Boulder, Colorado in the Rockies, and includes the Continental Divide and the headwaters of the Colorado River.The park contains 359 miles (578 km) of trails, 150 lakes, and 450 miles (720 km) of streams. The park contains over 60 named peaks higher than 12,000 feet (3,700 m), and over one fourth of the park resides above tree line. The highest point of the park is Longs Peak, which rises to 14,259 feet (4,346 m; surveys before 2002 show 14,255 feet (4,345 m) The lowest elevations in the park are montane forests and grassland. The ponderosa pine, which prefers drier areas, dominates, though at higher elevations douglas fir trees are found. Above 9,000 feet (2,700 m) the montane forests give way to the subalpine forest. Engelmann Spruce and Subalpine Fir trees are common in this zone. These forests tend to have more moisture than the montane and tend to be denser. Above tree line, at approximately 11,500 feet (3,500 m), trees disappear and the vast alpine tundra takes over. Due to harsh winds and weather, the plants in the tundra are short with very limited growing seasons. Streams have created lush riparian wetlands across the park. King Gibson Thompsonâ€™s home, located at 1930 Cambridge Boulevard on the corner of Edgemont Road, was completed in 1916. King Thompson, one of the founders and incorporators of Upper Arlington, lived there with his wife, the former Ethel Herrick, and children, Edward Herrick Thompson, Irma Francis Thompson, Frank King Thompson and Victor King Thompson. Ethel Thompson was a member of the Upper Arlington Red Cross Unit, established in 1917, which met weekly to socialize, as well as to sew towels, hospital clothes, and bandages in their contribution to the war effort. The Thompson family was very involved in the social life of their new community. In fact, the very first school was held in the basement of this home from 1917 to 1918 with twelve pupils in the first three grades.

King and his brother, Ben, initiated Upper Arlingtonâ€™s establishment when they purchased 840 acres of the "most suitable, most convenient and the most beautiful rolling, partly wooded Ohio farmland" from James Terrell Miller in 1913. The land appealed to the Thompsons as a residential site because of its location on high ground, its proximity to both downtown Columbus and The Ohio State University campus, and its position upwind from larger cities. The beautiful land that was once a "well-managed, immaculately kept, working farm" was subdivided into 2500 lots. The King Thompson Company was started in 1914 to sell the new subdivision to the public. In August of 1914, laborers and teams of horses were hired by the Thompson brothers to construct the first street, named Roxbury Road, leading into this pristine new subdivision.

By 1915 six houses were built and early in 1916 both King and Ben Thompson completed construction on their own new homes. The Upper Arlington Company was formed in March 1917, to develop the land and construct streets, sewers and water lines. King Thompson's plan for this new community demanded that: one management oversaw the entire district, each house was located with respect to the location of houses on adjoining lots, and each lot was graded and landscaped in accordance with the scenery of neighboring areas so that consistency between plots was maintained. This theme of continuity and precision in landscaping is still observable in Upper Arlington neighborhoods. On March 20, 1918, the village of Upper Arlington, with 200 residents was incorporated.

King Thompson was born and raised in Georgetown, Ohio with his brother, Ben, and two sisters, Irma and Loula. After graduating from high school in his hometown, Ben moved to Delaware to attend Ohio Wesleyan University and later attended law school at The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, King recognized the potential of the residential areas north and east of the university and launched his real estate career by developing many neighborhoods in this area. King Thompson had an entrepreneurial spirit and, as a young man, started a drayage business with a wagon and a team of horses. He was the first to organize a train to transport Ohio State fans to Ann Arbor to see the football game.

King was also an avid sportsman who loved to fish, hunt, play tennis and baseball, and pitch horseshoes. Hubbard Glacier is a glacier located in eastern Alaska and part of Yukon Canada.
