Fred Haught Trail 141

This is a beautiful hike through General Springs Canyon to a spur trail to Fred Haught's cabin. From here, the trail meanders out of the canyon, through Quien Sabes Draw, and finally to Pinchot Cabin in Houston Draw. This historic trail is part of the Cabin Loop Trail System. It was named after a rancher who once used it to move cattle and supplies from ridge to ridge and valley to valley in the once roadless wilderness above the Mogollon Rim. The Arizona Trail follows Fred Haught Trail for three miles from General Springs Cabin to shortly before the Fred Haught Cabin spur trail. If you're hiking the Arizona Trail, make sure to make a side-trip the old cabin site before continuing your journey. The trail may be accessed on FR 95 at Houston Draw, FR 719 at Fred Haught Ridge, and FR 300 at General Springs Cabin. Photo by Deborah Lee Soltesz, October 15, 2015.
