This impressive building can be found in the ancient town of Speyer in the Palatine part of Germany. It's next to the ancient cathedral so that the bishop did not have too long a walk to go to church. While the cathedral was founded in the 12th century the early days of the settlement go back to the times when the Romans conquerered that part of Europe more than 2000 years ago.
