Country: Czech republic - Europe Region: Central Bohemia Town: Kutna Hora Place: Church of St. Barbara This city in Central Bohemia situated on the Vrchlice River became the second most important city of the Czech Kingdom at the end of the 13th century thanks to its wealth from silver mines. Even though starting in the 16th century, the mining and the city were declining, the buildings and churches in the city centre still demonstrate the former glory of the city. The centre of the former mining city boasts with a unique historical group of edifices, in particular the late gothic cathedral of St. Barbara.
