Sicily. Messina. A Statue Of The Madonna.

The harbour of Messina protects Fort santissimo canal Salvatore. It is built in the XVI century. Its high-rise dominant is Обетная column with a gilded statue of the Madonna ,the patroness of the city. There is a legend according to which the mother of God in 42 ad sent to the city residents letter, blessing them. These words are written on the wall of the Fort and mean: we Bless you and your city.
