Columbia Glacier in Valdez area of Prince William Sound, Alaska. The columbia glacier system has shown very dramatic recession accelerating in past 50 years,of concern with global climate change. Icebergs are large pieces off the advancing mountain glaciers that berth into the water and then melt more rapidly.
