Casapueblo is the definitive tourist symbol of Punta del Este and one of the most popular resorts in all of Uruguay. The versatile Uruguayan artist, Carlos Paez Vilaró, created Casapueblo. His main objective was to create a sculpture in which he could actually live, where he would have the chance to paint in artistic surroundings and yet be able to socialize with friends.
