The Citadel of the Sun. Mehrangarh Fort stands 400 ft above the sky line of Jodhpur, with its walls of 118 ft high and 69 ft thick that protect the palaces and temples which have their separate, distinct identities with intricate Rajasthani carvings and design. It was built in 1438 by Rao Jodha, whose name was derived from Sanskrit words: ‘Mihir’ meaning the Sun god, and ‘Garh’ meaning fort.
